PC "Boots & Bling" Cruise - Victoria

2019 Past Commodore “Boots & Bling” Cruise to Victoria

Please join Doug and Barb Ray for this year’s Past Commodores’ Cruise to beautiful Victoria, British Columbia.  With Doug and Barb’s love of the great northwest outdoors and continuing with the theme of their Commodore’s Ball in 2018, the theme for this year’s PC Cruise will be “Boots and Bling.”  The boots are, of course, hiking boots, and why wouldn’t one hike with diamonds and pearls!

The Past Commodores’ Cruise honors all of our past commodores and is the “fancy” cruise of the season with a delicious plated dinner in the elegant ballroom at the Marriott Victoria Inner Harbour Hotel with Jim Corenman’s legendary slide show of yacht club memories on display for us to relive the fun times we’ve had in the Club with our friends.  We’ll do a special tribute to PC Fred & Carolyn Bowen, who have contributed many hours to the success of PC Cruises over the years, as they complete their last year with the Club before moving to the east coast to start their next life chapter.

The cruise is traditionally the most popular cruise of the season since we’ll be right in downtown Victoria with so much to do!  Whether you are coming by boat or staying in a hotel, everything is close by.   The favorable exchange rate makes browsing shops and enjoying restaurants a fun part of the cruise.  The Royal BC Museum’s current exhibition, “Maya: The Great Jaguar Rises,” is not to be missed!  If you want to plan ahead, https://www.tourismvictoria.com/ has more ideas of things to do.

If you’re coming on your own boat, you’ll dock at the Main Causeway Dock at the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority Marina in front of the historic Empress Hotel and beautifully lit Parliament Building.  Cruisers will have the opportunity to decorate their boats with the cruise theme and earn prizes!

If you don’t own a boat and want to participate in a cruise experience by riding on someone else’s boat, let us know!  We’ll make that happen!  Unless you make arrangements with the skippers to stay on their boat, you’ll want to also make hotel arrangements.

If you’re staying on land, the committee has reserved rooms for you at the Marriott at the deeply discounted rate of $206/night CAD, so be sure to tell them you’re with the SJIYC.  Of course, you can stay at whatever hotel you want.

All cruise events will be either at the Marriott or at the Marina.

The cruise is only $85 per person and is quite a bargain when one considers all that fee includes:  Saturday night’s plated dinner at the Marriott, wine with dinner, dessert, Docktail party on Friday night at the marina, Sunday pastries and coffee at the marina, fun games and prizes, and best of all, something made for you by our special Barb Snider!
